Job Title: Senior Contracts Administrator - Design and Construction


Type of Project: Major Theme Park and Resort Development


Location: Shanghai, Pudong, initially in advance offices in Century area and subsequently in temporary site offices at project location in China


Term of Employment: 3 years with possible extended duration


General Role Description: The tendering and award of numerous contract packages for professional services, including design, and major and minor construction works and the post award contract administration of these packages through to close out with settlement of claims and final accounts.
Function and Responsibilities: To provide a procurement and contracts administration support service to project development teams in order to ensure timely selection and appointment of appropriate consultants, service providers, contractors and vendors under legally secure and reliable contracts in the field of construction and related activities.


Education and Qualifications: Bachelor degree from a recognised institution in quantity surveying or other construction related discipline.


Experience: A minimum of 8 years post graduation experience in major development projects working on behalf of the project owner. Experience in tendering and post award contracts administration essential.
Professional Skills and Requirements: Drafting and assembling of clear and precise tender and contract documentation including obtaining and adapting reliable input from other members of a multi discipline team in order to ensure that works and services are tendered and awarded in time to support the project construction schedule;


Ensuring strict tendering and contract administration good practice, process and procedures are adopted and applied by all members of the project team and external consultants;
Giving reliable and clear advice on tendering and contract administration processes to multi discipline and multinational project team members to ensure that procedures and contract provisions are adhered to so that the Employer’s contractual position is not jeopardised and the works and services are performed, completed and settled in a contractually secure manner with all the Employer’s entitlements preserved;
Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally.

Reporting Lines and Team Interfaces: Reporting to the project’s head of procurement and contracts administration and to individual project team leader(s), the successful candidate will also be required to interface with the various disciplines in the project teams including project managers, construction managers, schedulers, estimators and financial controllers as well as external consultants and cost controllers (QSs).


Language Requirements: A high level of competence in spoken and written Chinese and English is essential together with the ability to draft documentation in both languages and translate one to the other.
